Jean Elsen sale 144, lot 1741

This specimen was lot 1741 in Jean Elsen sale 144 (Brussels, March 2020), where it sold for €750 (about US$988 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GRECE, Georges Ier (1863-1913), AR 2 drachmes, 1868A, Paris. Très Beau. (kingdom of Greece, George I, 1863-1913, silver two drachmas of 1868, Paris mint. Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1868, 1873 and 1883 at Paris to the standard of a French two francs. It is not common and is rather expensive in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 47,000.

Specification: 10 g, 0.835 fine silver.
