This specimen was lot 589 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 9,000 CHF (about US$13,716 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GROSSBRITANNIEN Königreich, Charles III. seit 2022. Proof 100 Pounds 2023, Royal Mint Llantrisant. Referenzprägung für die Qualitätsprüfung beim Trial of the Pyx. Äusserst selten. Nur 10 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. Im Originaletui mit Zertifikat. Die jährlich stattfindende Prüfung der von der Royal Mint geprägten Münzen durch The Goldsmiths' Company ("Trial of the Pyx") ist eine wichtige Aufgabe, mit der sichergestellt wird, dass die geprägten Münzen den höchsten Standards entsprechen. Die erste Prüfung fand im Jahr 1248 statt und ist damit eines der ältesten Gerichtsverfahren im Vereinigten Königreich. Most of the 685 pieces struck of this type were, of course, not used for the trial but sold in the usual manner. They lack the counterstamp seen above the date.
