Great Britain 2004 pound KM-1048
This specimen was lot 41564 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, August 2026), where it sold for $2,074. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Pound, 2004. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo. Regional Bridge series: Forth Bridge. Tied with just three others for the top spot in the PCGS census, this nearly-flawless example provides a majestic cameo nature. From the John P. Burnham Collection." This commemorative honored the Forth Bridge in Scotland, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was also struck in nickel brass and sterling silver. Three other designs honored British bridges.
Recorded mintage: 39,162,000 for circulation plus 123,000 for collector sets plus 35,020 proofs plus 11,470 silver proofs plus 4,820 silver piedforts plus 2,618 gold proofs. Some of the silver proofs had gold plating applied to the bridge design on the reverse.
