Great Britain 1974 sovereign
This specimen was lot 1109 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$752 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Grossbritannien, konigreich, Elizabeth II. 1952-. Sovereign 1974. Fehlprägung: Unvollständige Randprägung. Zu Fr-418. Äusserst selten. FDC. (kingdom of Great Britain, Elizabeth II, since 1952, sovereign of 1974, Extremely rare, Uncirculated.)"
This type of 1974-84 is the second large issue of sovereigns since George V but these were sold to investors and collectors and not issued for circulation. Altho the auctioneers marked this as "extremely rare", this date is awarded no premium in the SCWC.
