Great Britain 1930 half penny
This specimen was lot 30058 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Proof 1/2 Penny 1930 PR66 Brown PCGS, Royal mint, A jaw-dropping survivor of this Proof of Record issue, sheathed in vivid mulicolored tone, and deeply glossy throughout, with pinpoint sharpness through the design and no noticeable flaws. Easily among the finest extant for the date in terms of both presentation and preservation." The half pennies of George V were issued 1911-36 and all the dates are common but proofs are rare. This sub-type was issued 1928-36.
