This specimen was lot 3887 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $364.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1919-KN. NGC AU-50 BN. Dark copper toning. Nice features." The King's Norton mint was not a branch mint but a private company that normally produced coinage on contract for various British colonies. During 1918-19, it pitched in and minted copper coinage for Great Britain.
Recorded mintage: 4,526,000 (including the Heaton mint production).
Specification: 9.45 g, bronze, 30.8 mm diameter.
