This specimen was lot 40566 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1906. London Mint. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. Excellent quality for the type, this shimmering near-Gem is tied with just four other examples at the top spot in the PCGS census for the date." This is the only sovereign issued for Edward VII and is common.

Recorded mintage: 10,467,000.

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .117 troy oz AGW.
