This specimen was lot 72112 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1880. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-63+ Gold Shield. An exceptionally choice example, this lustrous piece offers dazzling beauty and is surpassed in the PCGS census by just one other specimen. From the Regent Crest Collection." This type was struck 1879-87 as the final issue of the young head type first struck in 1838. This date is common.
