This specimen was lot 2617 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$965 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Victoria, 1837-1901. 1/2 Sovereign 1862, London. Larger young head. Seltener Jahrgang. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Great Britain, Victoria, 1837-1901, half sovereign of 1862, London mint, young head. Rare date, Good very fine.)"
This type was struck in substantial quantities 1838-85 yet choice specimens are few. Some issues of 1862 bear a die number; this one does not.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a rare date.
