Great Britain 1798 guinea KM-Pn65
This specimen was lot 41420 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, August 2026), where it sold for $13,420. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Gold Guinea Pattern, 1798. Soho (Birmingham) Mint. George III. PCGS PROOF-55. By C. H. Küchler. A VERY RARE Pattern issue in gold, this type being far more frequently encountered in Gilt Copper or other compositions; we are able to find only four other examples in public auctions over the past 25 years, with the last example selling in 2018. Interestingly, all four of these other examples similarly display wear, suggesting that the full Pattern mintage may have made its way into circulation. Some luster is retained in the fields and protected areas of the present piece, with fairly intact detail to the reverse and a hint of reddish toning. From the Charles “Cheech” Litman Collection."
