This specimen was lot 31384 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "George II Sixpence 1757, MS63 NGC. Scarce at this level. Original olive-brown patina pleasingly envelops both sides." This type is listed for 1746, 1750-51 and 1757-58 and is common in worn condition. The mint did not produce near enough small change for the industrial boom of the eighteenth century, leading to a proliferation of private tokens. The situation would not be rectified until the reform of 1817.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.
Specification: 3.01 g, 0.925 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 582.2, S-3711, ESC-1622.
