Great Britain 1755 1/2 guinea
This specimen was lot 32718 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. George II gold 1/2 Guinea 1755 MS62 NGC. Displaying brightly shimmering luster over appealing sun-gold surfaces, only light wisps of handling discernible to establish the nearly choice grade. The offering remains the only one of its date to be certified Mint State across both PCGS and NGC. Ex. Terner Collection (Goldberg Auction 20, May 2003, Lot 188). From the Abbeygate Collection." This type was struck 1747-60 and is by far the most affordable gold coin of George II.
