Great Britain 1723-WCC shilling
This specimen was lot 40486 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1723-WCC. London Mint. George I. PCGS VF-20. Second laureate bust. A VERY SCARCE type struck from silver supplied by Welsh Copper Company, exhibiting the usual wear and tear found on the type but overall a satisfactory representative. From the Richard August Collection. Ex: Ponterio & Associates (6/1997) Lot # 1288." Shillings were struck with the "WCC" mark 1723-26 along with South Sea ("SSC") shillings and regular shillings (no mark).
