Great Britain 1714 shilling

Stack's Bowers May 2025 Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 75030

This specimen was lot 75030 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $336. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1714. London Mint. Anne. PCGS AU-50. Variety with 4th Bust, and roses and plumes in angles." This type was stuck 1710-14; a 1714/3 overdate is reported. It is fairly common in worn condition. The roses and plumes on the reverse were left off the 1711 issue.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specifications: 6.02 g, 0.925 fine silvper, 26 mm diameter.
