This specimen was lot 1203 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,918 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN | Königreich, William III. 1694-1702. Guinea 1697, London. First laureate bust. NGC AU Details. Lightly cleaned." This type was struck 1695-97 with (Fr-314) and without (shown here) the elephant and symbol below the busts. The second bust of the king was also used on guineas of 1697. After the death of his wife, William III ruled alone until his death in 1701.
