This specimen was lot 1643 in Sincona sale 82 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 19,000 CHF (about US$25,428 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles II. 1660-1685. 2 Guineas 1671, London. First laureate bust. Von grösster Seltenheit (Of the highest rarity). NGC AU55. Finest certified by NGC." This scarce type was struck 1664 and 1671 only. No two guineas with the elephant below the bust was struck in 1671.
