Stephen Album sale 47, lot 1002

This specimen was lot 1002 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGUESE INDIA: GOA: Pedro V, 1853-1861, AR rupia, 1857, EF, ex SARC Auction 9 Lot 945." This type struck 1856-61 along with a half pardao (KM 280) and pardao (KM 278). By the eighteenth century, Portuguese holdings were limited to Diu, Damao and Goa. Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 11.8 g, 0.917 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-279, Gom-09.02.
