Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 56450

This specimen was lot 56450 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Portuguese India. Goa. Pardao (300 Reis), 1857. Goa Mint. Pedro V. NGC AU Details--Cleaned." This type was struck 1856-57 and 1860-61. This is the last issue of the denomination. In 1871, the Goa mint was closed and milled coinage from the British mints was introduced.
