This specimen was lot 46272 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GIBRALTAR. 1/2 Quart, 1842. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-63 Brown." This coin was part of a brief issue of circulating copper coinage comprising half, one and two quarts. Some proofs were struck for collectors 1860-61 and the coinage ceased until the colony fell into the clutches of the Popjoy mint in recent times.
