This specimen was lot 32379 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GIBRALTAR. Richard Cattons Goldsmith. 2 Quartos, 1813. PCGS AU-58. This appealing and elusive 2 Quartos delivers good eye appeal, with deep brown color and much charm throughout." The British captured the rock of Gibraltar from the Spanish in 1704 and have held it since. No coinage was issued specifically for the place until 1841; this two quartos, accompanied by a one quarto (KM Tn5), is actually a merchant token.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
Catalog reference: KM-Tn6; Prid-12.
