This specimen was lot 75175 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GIBRALTAR. Copper 2 Quartos Token, 1810. PCGS MS-62 Brown. Small Date Variety. 'PAYABLE AT ROBERT KEELING & SONS / GIBRALTAR' on obverse. Quite SCARCE so Choice, with many examples of the type found with heavy wear and cleaning." The British captured the rock of Gibraltar from the Spanish in 1704 and have held it since. No coinage was issued specifically for the place until 1841; this two quartos, accompanied by a one quarto, is actually a merchant token. Large (KM 4.1) and small date (KM 4.2) varieties exist.
