This specimen was lot 552 in Jean Elsen sale 140 (Brussels, March 2019), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,199 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"VLAANDEREN, Gent in opstand tegen Philips II (1581-1584), AR acht stuiver, 1584. Vz/ AVXIL· NOST· A·-·DOMINO Gentse maagd, hoofd n. r., met leeuwenschild en banier met de leeuw. Kz/ (leeuw) ·MON· ARG· CIVITATIS· GANDAV· 1584· Klimmende leeuw n. l. Zeldzaam Klein defekt in de muntplaat. Mooie patina. goede Zeer Fraai. (county of Flanders, city of Ghent in revolt against Philip II, 1581-84, silver eight stuivers of 1584. Obverse: an angel facing right supports the provincial arms and holds a banner; reverse: rampant lion left. Rare, small planchet crack, good Very Fine.)"
