Germany 1926-G mark

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70624

This specimen was lot 70624 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $408. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Weimar Republic. Mark, 1926-G. Karlsruhe Mint. PCGS PROOF-65 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. A superior proof example of a fairly scarce type struck 1925-27." This is a rare proof of an otherwise common type struck 1925-27. When coinage of the reichsmark resumed in 1933, it was a nickel coin.
