Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 78091
SB1125-78091r.jpg

This specimen was lot 78091 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Genoa. Scudo, 1691-ITC. VERY FINE." This type was struck 1637-56, 1661-1705, 1712-21 and 1725. The SCWC incorrectly states the weight as 19 g, which caused us considerable confusion for some time. It is not common. Two, three, four and six scudi exist. The later dates are catalogued as Dav-1366.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 38 g, 0.889 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-3901; KM-79.
