This specimen was lot 2992 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 5,000 CHF (about US$6,692 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GENOVA, Dogi Biennali, 1528-1797. 3 Scudi 1680, Genova. Mit dem Münzmeisterzeichen SM. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Kleine Schrötlings- und Randfehler (republic of Genoa, biennial doges, 1528-1797, triple scudo of 1680, Genoa mint. Very rare, Very fine, Small flan flaws and edge nicks)." This type was struck 1638, 1652, 1666, 1670, 1680-84, 1692-93, 1712-19 and 1725 along with scudi and double scudi and the occasional quadruple scudi.
