Sincona sale 83, lot 2991

This specimen was lot 2991 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 8,200 CHF (about US$10,974 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "GENOVA, Dogi Biennali, 1528-1797. Ducatone della Benedizione 1599, Genova. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Kleine Kratzer im Avers, sonst überdurchschnittlich erhalten (republic of Genoa, biennial doges, 1528-1797, ducatone of the benediction of 1599, Genoa mint. Very rare, Good very fine, Small scratches on obverse, otherwise extraordinarily well struck)." Later issues, dated 1601 and 1607, are catalogued as Dav-3899 and KM 24. All are very rare.
