Jean Elsen sale 160, lot 2515

This specimen was lot 2515 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €200 (about US$253 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, GELDERLAND, Provincie, AR dukaton (zilveren rijder), 1670. Vz/ Ridder te paard n.r. boven gekroond provinciewapen. Kz/ Gekroond Generaliteitswapen gehouden door twee leeuwen. Gereinigd, met zeewaterkorrosie. Uit een wrak (VOC De Liefde ?). Zeer Fraai. (Netherlands, province of Gelderland, silver ducaton of 1670. Obverse: mounted knight charges right, over the provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality supported by two lions. Cleaned, salt water corrosion, perhaps from the wreck of De Liefde, very fine.)"

The SCWC notes that the regular issues from Gelderland run 1659-79.
