This specimen was lot 2419 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "GAMBIA. 200 Dalasis, 1996. NGC PROOF-68 ULTRA CAMEO. Endangered wildlife series featuring a stalking male lion. Brilliant and lustrous with no lines or signs of handling. From a mintage of only 1,000 pieces. Hard mirror fields with frosted devices." The Gambia is an English-speaking region wedged inside the French-speaking Senegal. Attempts to unify them have been fruitless. Gambia has issued some circulating coinage sporadically. This NCLT was accompanied by a silver 100 dalasis (KM 45) and gold 1000 dalasis (KM 69).

Recorded mintage: 1,000.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 1.000 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-8; KM-48.
