This specimen was lot 2420 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GAMBIA. 1,000 Dalasis, 1996. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Mintage of only 99 pieces. Depicting lion, lioness and cub." The Gambia is an English-speaking region wedged inside the French-speaking Senegal. Recorded mintage: 99.
Specification: 155.5 g, 0.999 fine gold, 5.00 troy oz AGW.
Catalog reference: Fr-7a; KM-69.
