This specimen was lot 30876 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Fugger-Zinnenburg-Woerth. Cajetan Joseph & Johann Carl Alexander Taler 1781 UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, Munich mint. With title of Joseph II. A seldom-seem Convention taler from this community, containing vibrant argent surfaces that are drenched in a satin layer of golden color. Despite minor hairlines that appear to be visible only with the aid of magnification, the eye is more focused on the intricate styling of the central images and the overall allure that this sizeable crown possesses. Sold with an old sales envelope." This is the only issue from this family in the eighteenth century. Their lands were partitioned between Wurttemberg and Bavaria in 1806.
Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
