This specimen was lot 45460 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Friesland. 30 Stuivers (1/2 3 Gulden), 1696. PCGS AU-50 Gold Shield. A wholesome and generally well detailed coin, with one area of slight strike weakness on the lower left obverse that carries through to the reverse. The toning is an even light gray, and some traces of mint luster can still be detected in the peripheries." This daalder of thirty stuivers (or 1½ gulden) is noted for 1696 only and is an obscure denomination, called a half three gulden. It fits uneasily among the half lion daalders, half rijksdaalders, half ducatons and silver half ducats. Earlier coins of this size, called koggerdaalders, are known for 1682 and 1687.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 15.91 g, 0.920 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-74.
