Steve Album sale 51, lot 3657

This specimen was lot 3657 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRENCH INDOCHINA: French Colony, AR 10 centimes, 1924-A, Paris Mint, a superb example, PCGS graded MS65, ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection." This type was issued from the Paris mint 1921-30 and 1937 and superseded a similar design of 0.835 fineness (KM 9) issued 1898-1919. This is a slightly better date. French Indochina was occupied by the Japanese in 1940. French attempts to reoccupy the area after World War Two were challenged by Ho Chi Minh and the Viet Minh, leading to French defeat and withdrawal in 1954. The colony was divided into Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Recorded mintage: 2,816,000.

Specifications: 2.7 g, 0.680 fine silver, .059 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-16.1, Lec-165.
