from Künker sale 352, lot 1896

This specimen was lot 1896 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €11,000 (about US$15,309 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANKFURT, STADT, 2 Dukaten 1658, auf die Krönung Leopolds I. zum römischen Kaiser in Frankfurt. Sechs Zeilen Schrift, darüber halten zwei Engel Kaiserkrone//Zwei aus Wolken kommende Hände halten sich Zepter und Schwert entgegen, unten gekrönter Globus, oben strahlendes Gottesauge in Wolken. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Min. gewellt, vorzüglich. Erworben 1954 bei der Firma Grabow, Berlin. (Germany, city of Frankfurt, double ducat of 1658, on the coronation of Leopold I as emperor in Frankfurt. Obverse: six line inscription; above, two angels hold the imperial crown; reverse: two hands coming out of clouds hold scepter and sword towards each other, below a crowned globe, above shining God's eye in clouds. Extremely rare, slightly wavy, extremely fine. Bought from Grabow in 1954.)"

This rare type was accompanied by a single ducat (KM 126), a 4 ducats (KM 128) and 5 ducats (KM 82).
