This specimen was lot 32021 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Ducat, 1642-AM. Frankfurt Mint. Free City. NGC MS-62. A beautiful and impressive nearly Choice Mint State exemplar, offering bright lustrous brilliance, with alluring luster, and a charm allotment of rich details. A stunning example of a RARE Free City Ducat." This type was struck 1633-44 and undated, all with mintmaster AM. While much more available than the contemporary double ducat (Fr-971), it is not common.
