Frankfurt (1440-51) goldgulden Fr-940
This specimen was lot 252 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 575 CHF (about US$876 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Frankfurt, Reichsmünzstätte. Friedrich III. von Habsburg, König 1440-1451. Pfandinhaber Konrad von Weinsberg, 1431-1452. Goldgulden o. J. (1440-1451), Frankfurt. (Germany, city of Frankfurt, imperial mint, Frederick III of Hapsburg, king of Germany 1440-51, mint lessee Konrad von Weinsberg, 1431-1452, undated goldgulden, circa 1440-51. NGC AU55.)"
Frankfurt was an imperial free city that was the site of the diet of the Holy Roman Empire. It is now in Hesse. A few of these coins bear dates but most, including this one, do not. It is fairly common.
