This specimen was lot 20554 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. 100 Euros, 2006. Paris Mint. PCGS PROOF-68 Deep Cameo. Commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Franklin. A massive and impressive issue containing five ounces of gold, this alluring gem proof offers brilliant luster and mirrored surfaces along with lightly frosted devices. An incredibly RARE piece, this example is stamped on the edge as #35 in a limited mintage of just 99 Specimens, and only 1 of 84 with a certificate signed by the artist and mintmaster in Paris. The first of this type which we have offered."
