This specimen was lot 567 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $5,581.25. The catalog description[2] noted, "FRANCE. 10 Franc, 1899. NGC PROOF-65. Piefort. Gold." It is a piefort (presentation piece of double weight). The regular type was emitted 1899-1914 and is not rare.

Specification: 19 mm diameter, 3.22 grams, 0.900 fine gold, reeded edge. Designed by Jules-Clément Chaplain (1839-1909).

Recorded Mintage: 689,503[1].
