This specimen was part of lot 22559 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), which sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Trio of Francs (3 Pieces). 1866-72. All NGC Certified. 1) 1866-A, Paris Mint, NGC MS-63. KM-806.1; 2) 1867-A, Paris Mint, NGC MS-62; 3) 1872-K, Bordeaux Mint, NGC AU-58, Small K variety." This date, while not rare, is priced triple the 1888-A and 1895-A.

Recorded mintage: 5,798,220[2].

Specification: 23 mm diameter, 5 grams, 0.835 fine silver, reeded edge. Designed by Albert-Desiré Barre, 1818-1878.
