This specimen was lot 1958 in Jean Elsen sale 160 (Brussels, November 2024), where it sold for €190 (about US$241 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Napoléon III (1852-1870), AV 5 francs, 1865 A, Paris. Fines griffes. Très Beau. (empire of France, Napoleon III, gold five francs of 1865, Paris mint. hairlines, very fine.)"
This type, the last gold five francs, was struck 1862-68 at Paris and Strasbourg. This is a slightly scarce date. Silver five francs exist of this date but are very rare.

Specification: 1.63 g, 0.900 fine gold, 16.7 mm diameter, reeded edge.
