The second specimen was lot 32506 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[2] noted, "France. Louis XV gold 2 Louis d'Or 1758-BB MS62 NGC, Strasbourg mint. An admirable example with bold details and no noticeable flan flaws. The portrait of Louis is particularly strong, with no distracting adjustment marks noted. Rare and desirable in this select quality." This type was struck 1742-73 in some numbers but the Strasbourg mint issued this type 1742-49, 1756-64, 1766-72 only. Strasbourg's location near the border with Germany made it a major producer of this type struck for soldier's pay. It was succeeded by the double louis d'or à la vieille tête.

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by J.-C. Röettiers; the first specimen 16,27 g.
