This specimen was lot 1088 in Goldberg's NY International sale 58 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $8,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Louis XV (1715-1774). gold Louis d'or au bandeau, 1752/1-W. Lille mint. Original mint fresh luster. Superb example for the type collector. Pop 1; Only one graded by both PCGS and NGC. In NGC holder graded MS 65." The louis d'or au bandeau was introduced in 1740 and was struck at all the mints. The type is common altho most individual dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: 2,010, priced as common[2].

Specification: 8.16 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22-23 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J. C. Roëttiers.
