This specimen was lot 1307 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $450. The catalog description[1] noted, "France. Louis d'or au bandeau, 1742-)(-(Besancon). Louis XV. Mintage only 623. Rare. PCGS graded Very Fine Detail (Plugged)." The louis d'or au bandeau was introduced in 1740 and was struck at all the mints. Most dates of this type by the Besançon mint are rare, as is this one.

Specification: 8.15 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J. C. Röettiers.
