France 1681-A 1/12 ecu
This specimen was lot 42192 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. 1/12 Ecu, 1681-A. Paris Mint. Louis XIV. PCGS MS-62. Variety with dot under D in LVD (second semester). An EXTREMELY RARE Mint State survivor and perhaps the finest known example of the type, this lovely minor boasts wholly unimpaired surfaces and crisp detail. An exceptionally elusive opportunity for collectors of coinage of the "Sun King". From the Richard August Collection. Ex: Enterprise Collection (Heritage - 1/2004) Lot # 14624." This type was struck 1679-83 at Paris ("A") and Aix ("&"), all dates are rare.
