SB925-74702r.jpg

This specimen was lot 74702 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. 1/4 Ecu, 1665-&. Aix Mint. Louis XIV. PCGS EF-40. From the Richard August Collection." The quart d'écu au buste juvénile was struck 1663-74. There is so much variation from mint to mint that Droulers[2] has a subtype for each mint. Despite the substantial mintage for some dates, this is a very rare type.

Recorded mintage: 3,566, a rare date[2].

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 661, KM-213.6; Gad-143; Dupl-1485.
