This specimen was lot 21104 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $4,025. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Henri d'or, 1561-B. Rouen. Henri II (1547-59). Edge nicks, slightly wavy flan. VERY FINE." This type was struck at Rouen after Henry's death for his younger son, Charles IX (1560-74). It had a face value of fifty sols tournois, the same as the écu d'or.

Recorded mintage: 18,550, including a few demi-henris d'or.

Specification: 3.65 g, 0.958 fine gold.
