This specimen was lot 47809 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Florence. Barile, ND (1506). Republic. PCGS EF-40." Per Numista, a barile was ten soldi. We note a strong resemblance between this coin and a carlino sold by Jean Elsen in 2025. The republic of Florence collapsed in the 1530's and was reconstituted as the grand duchy of Tuscany with a Medici as grand duke.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.42 g, 0.958 fine silver, 27 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: MIR-72/2.
