This specimen was lot 827 in Jean Elsen sale 161 (Brussels, March 2025), where it sold for €400 (about US$521 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Philips II (1555-1598), AR vijfde Philipsdaalder, 1586, Brugge. Zonder het wapen van Portugal. Vz/ Geharnast bb. r. Kz/ Gekroond wapenschild op een Bourgondisch kruis tussen twee vuurijzers. Zeldzaam. Mooie patina. (county of Flanders, goede Very Fine.)"

Flanders is now in the heart of Belgium. This coin was struck 1563-67, 1571-72, 1576-77, 1586-89 as part of an early attempt to issue decimal coinage. The final issues of 1586-89 have the shield of Portugal added to the arms.

Specification: 6.86 g, 0.833 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, this specimen is 6,81 g.
