Flanders 1545 korte
This specimen was lot 1266 in Jean Elsen sale 163 (Brussels, November 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Keizer Karel (1506-1555), Cu korte, 1545, Brugge. Vz/ Gekroond hoofd r. Kz/ Klimmende leeuw l. Deels zwak. (county of Flanders, emperor Charles (1506-55) copper korte of 1545, Bruges mint. Obverse: crowned head right; reverse: lion rampant left. weakly struck, Very Fine.)"
Numista notes this type for 1543-55 and undated and states the total mintage was 5,964,297. A similar coin was struck in Antwerp, where it was called a double mite instead of a korte.
