This specimen was lot 760 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Jan zonder Vrees (1404-1419), AR dubbele groot braspenning, 1417-1418, Gent. 2e uitgifte. Met doorstreepte A. Droit: Wapens van Bourgondië en Vlaanderen, daarboven toernooihelm. Revers: Kruis met in de hoeken lelies en leeuwen. Zeer Fraai. (county of Flanders, John the Fearless (1404-19). silver double groat of 1417-18, Ghent mint, second issue with crossed "A". Obverse: arms of Burgundy and Flanders, helmet above; reverse: floriate cross with lilies and lions in the fields. Very fine.)"

Duke Charles' death in battle in 1477 extinguished the Burgundian dynasty. His daughter Marie's marriage to Maximilian of Hapsburg brought Hapsburg rule to the Low Countries.
