Sincona sale 35, lot 5376

This specimen was lot 5376 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$11,871 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Thurgau | Fischingen, Abtei, Franz Troger, 1688-1728 Dukat 1728. Auf den 500. Todestag der heiligen Ida von Toggenburg. Mehrfeldiges Stifts- und Familienwappen. Rv. Die heilige Ida, Gräfin von Toggenburg von vorn. Sehr selten. Nur 50 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich-FDC. Leicht gewellt. (canton of Thurgau, abbey of Fischingen, Francis Troger, 1668-1728, ducat of 1728, on the 500th anniversary of the death of St. Ida of Toggenburg. Obverse: quartered arms of the abbey and abbot; reverse: St. Ida standing with stag. Very rare. Only 50 pieces struck, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Lightly wavy planchet.)"

This ducat and an accompanying double ducat (KM 6) are the only issues from this abbey in Thurgau. Both are rare.
